Joel Smith began as a documentary filmmaker, servicing such clients as the National Science Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. During this time Joel served as Director of the Duke University Media Center, then followed this as Vice President of SeaGull Entertainment, a domestic and international television distribution company. At SeaGull he launched production of the television series, TARZAN: THE EPIC ADVENTURES, the first US series filmed in South Africa. Joel wrote, produced and directed HARLEY-DAVIDSON: THE AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE, Turner Broadcasting s highest rated documentary special of all time. Joel also supervised the scripting and production of numerous television movies. Joel is a graduate of Duke University and a member of the Writer’s Guild of America.
