Professor Emeritus John C. Crowell was an officer in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Trained in oceanographic meteorology, he worked on wave forecasting for the Allied invasion of Normandy and the invasion of Burma. After leading a convoy across the Ledo-Burma Road he worked on the plans for the invasion of Japan while based in the Philippines. This is a story of a scientist at war.
